This plane began production in the mid 1930's and was widely used during World War II. These monoplanes (one set of wings) were created by a partnership of Grumman and the General Motors Corporation. Production escalated during the war and eventually 8,000 were produced.

These famous planes were used in many critical battles including Pearl Harbor, Midway. During the Lend-Lease program many were built fo the British Royal Navy.
