Prior to our visit educators from the Cold Spring Harbor DNA center visited each of the elementary schools and we explored what DNA was as well as created our own Baggy cells out of gelatin, beans, string, and spaghetti. Each item represented parts of the cell. During our visit to the center, we extracted DNA from bacterial cells and used microscopes to identitfy the genetic mutations of fruit flies. It was an informative and thought provoking, fabulous day!

Our chaperones Mrs. Marcis, Mrs. Caliguri, Mrs. Sedeita and Mrs. McGuire had a great time as well.
