If you ever plan on putting out grass seed wait until the Maritime festival dates are announced, you'll be sure to have rain! Despite the weather the Maritime Festival docked at Bethpage High School last week. The Forensic Science students put mysteries aside to change gears and become instructors in Marine Science. It was an opportunity for many high school seniors to gain experience as teachers. They did a phenomenal job educating all the district's third graders about the sea life found around our beautiful island. Mr. Hack (aka SCUBA Steve) amazed the visitors in our pool, while Mrs. Rankin and her students taught the third graders all about plankton and the marine food web. A highlight of the day was a 34" stripped bass caught by Mr. Carroll. Hats off to all the high school custodial and maintenance staff that help to make this yearly event such a success.
