On Friday, December 13th, a group of 21st century scholars had a unique opportunity to explore the universe when the Vanderbilt Planetarium brought their new 37 foot customized bus to JFK Middle School. After a brief introductory classroom session the students embarked on the bus where they explored astronomy at five hands-on interactive stations. When they returned to the classroom they were given a challenge – to determine the color of a star. They used their knowledge of the electromagnetic spectrum and the analysis of the temperature of the star to make their final determination.
