John F. Kennedy Middle School hosted its annual geography bee through the National Geographic Society in January. The first round was held in social studies classes, and then the top students faced off in a secondary geography challenge. The winner of the schoolwide bee was Alex Monoyos, a sixth-grader in Monica Klein’s social studies class. The runner-up was Sophia Suazo, a seventh-grader in Jody Smith’s social studies class who was also a runner-up in last year’s bee.
