Third graders from the district’s three elementary schools had the opportunity to connect with Long Island’s Maritime history. The graduating class of Bethpage High School did a phenomenal job hosting the annual Maritime Festival. The elementary students made rope the old fashioned way; learned all about the parts of a fish, saw a SCUBA demonstration by Mr. Hack, learned about plankton with Mrs. Rankin, and produced a “Gyotaku” style fish print. A Special thanks goes out to Mr. Carroll for helping acquire the rich diversity of sea life displayed in the touch tanks.
