Five JFK students participated in the New York Kid-Wind Wind Turbine competition at the Cradle of Aviation with Mr. Perez and Mr. Ravener. The students won first place (Geoffrey Shamah, Chris Shamah, Andrew Kayel) AND third place (Sabrina Johnson, Candace Haney) in the competition vs. other schools on Long Island. The students have participated in this competition for three consecutive years. They worked after-school - and on Saturdays - to build their wind turbines and create their presentation boards. The coaches were very proud of the students' efforts and how they presented their knowledge of wind turbines and wind power during the competition. High school students - Edwin Manj, Samantha Alaimo, Sarah Suazo, Jimmy Lang, and Tommy Lang - were also helpful in the development of the wind turbine models during their time at JFK.
