BHS students were afforded the unique opportunity to study the new emerging field of composite technology at the Composite Prototype Center in Plainview.  Composites offer incredible strength as a material in manufacturing, but at a much lighter weight and therefore can be very fuel efficient in cars and planes.  Representatives of the Center along with professors from Vaughn College taught a multi-week course that was capped by two days of hand-on experience creating a part and then deliberately damaging it so they could repair it.  It was a great taste of practical engineering for some students who many want to enter that field.  We enjoyed working with fellow students from Syosset and Huntington.  Thanks to all!
