On Wednesday, May 13th a brand new area opened in the JFK Library called the Makerspace. Makerspaces, sometimes referred to as hackerspaces, hackspaces, and fablabs are DIY areas where kids can be creative and tinker with different materials ranging from modeling clay to K'nex building toys to circuit boards. The JFK Makerspace is available to students to use everyday during their lunch period and before school on Thursdays and Fridays. The materials for the Makerspace were provided through a generous grant from the Bethpage Educational Foundation.
