Stars Are in Sight

Based upon recommendations from teachers and a genuine interest in the subject matter, eighth-graders Vincent Perez and Anthony Verde were chosen to attend Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama, for five days this summer. Sixth-grade science teacher Vincent Perez Sr., Vincent’s father, participated in the teacher training portion of the program.

The student camp had four components: a history of space exploration, astronaut training, technical skills and graduation. Teachers participated in STEM-related activities that could be replicated in the classroom and learned about the unique history of NASA in Huntsville. All three participants were left with memories that would carry with them for a lifetime.
