BETHPAGE UFSD SETS DATE FOR CAPITAL RESERVE FUND PROJECT VOTE

Voting is scheduled to take place in the high school gymnasium on Tuesday, November 15, from noon to 9:00 p.m. If you are not yet registered to vote, the District has continuous voter registration. To register, contact the District Clerk at (516) 644-4002 any day school is open. Please remember to vote on Tuesday, November 15.

At the Bethpage School District Board of Education meeting held on Tuesday, September 27, the Board of Education approved a proposition to be submitted to the voters at a District’s Special Election, which will be held on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 from 12 noon to 9:00 p.m. in the high school gymnasium. These projects, if approved, will be New York State Education Department aidable up to $0.39 (39%) on each dollar approved. This proposition, if approved, will not result in an increase to the tax levy.
 
The proposition would authorize the District to expend $2,193,502 out of the District Capital Reserve Fund, which was established, by voter approval, on May 20, 2008 for the purpose of:
 
• Reconstruction of locker rooms, showers, and bathrooms at Bethpage High School
• Replacement of heat generating system at Central Boulevard School: new boilers, new hot water heater 
  and storage tank 
• Removal and replacement of transite asbestos ceiling panels at JFK Middle School
• HVAC work District-wide
• Installation of wrestling room ventilation at Bethpage High School
• Security improvements District-wide; security infrastructure and door access
• Replacement of existing generator at Bethpage High School
• Replacement of existing hardware on doors with push/pull mechanisms; installation of magnetic hold-open devices on assembly room doors District-wide
