CCS Students Celebrate Native American Day

First-grade students at Charles Campagne Elementary School celebrated Native American Day just before the Thanksgiving break.

Four activity centers were set up in the school’s all-purpose room, with parent volunteers assisting the students and their teachers as they made clay pots and beaded necklaces, fashioned vests with Native American symbols out of brown paper bags, made drums by recycling empty coffee cans, and wove paper using strips of construction paper. After completing an activity, the students rotated to their next center when they heard the “tom tom” sound.  The program provided a unique and memorable way for the students to experience first-hand some of the activities performed by Native Americans.
