Successful Junior Academy Scientist

Bethpage High School's Smiti Shah has been participating in the online, virtual program called "The Junior Academy".  Smiti and her team recently won first place in the International Global Innovation Challenge hosted by the New York Academy of Sciences under the category of Water Sanitation and Hygiene Wearable Technology Development. Working with an international team comprised of students from Macedonia, Scotland, and the United States with a mentor from India, Smiti and her team developed a water filtration device able to purify water consisting of many chemical and biological contaminants.  Her team, "AquaeVitae" worked tirelessly over 70 days and well over 300 hours creating this prototype.

Smiti was also invited to speak about her experience at The Junior Academy over the past year and introduced a guest speaker.  The archived video presentation can be watched at:  VIDEO.  Specifically, Smiti can be seen at the following time stamps:
