Cooking up Something Special for the Community

Tom Scarola's seventh and eighth-grade Family and Consumer Science classes at JFK Middle School in the Bethpage Union Free School District participated in their first lab in the class kitchens.

The students didn't cook something they could eat. Instead, they cooked something to give away. The middle schoolers made play dough in red, yellow, and blue for the Child Study Workshop class taught by Theresa Schneider at Bethpage High School.

The play dough will be used to help create lesson plans for the four-year-old children in the community. Mr. Scarola delivered the huge box of play dough himself and surprised the high school students.

A very special thank you goes to the JFK students and Mr. Scarola for keeping the community connection strong.
