Golden Eagles at the Long Island Science and Engineering Fair

Five students from Bethpage High School proudly represented the school community in this year's Long Island Science and Engineering Fair.  The students and their topics were:

  • Julie Grzybowki - "The Effect of Biodiversity on Plant Growth and Productivity"
  • Anthony Hernandez - "Sindonology: Vehicle for and Against Authenticity of the Turin Shroud"
  • Soham Maiti - "The Derivation and Applications of Special Relativity"
  • Brian McCarthy - "Robot Assistant: Picking Up Objects for the Vision Impaired"
  • Smiti Shah - "Efficient Nano-Based Water Filter: A Novel Application of Biosynthesized Silver Nanoparticles (AgNP) and Carbon Nanotube (CNT) Ink with Applied Electrical Current"

The students competed against more than 400 other Long Island students.  Soham and Smiti were selected to move on to LISEF's Round 2 Regional Fair, with the opportunity to compete in this year's international fair!
