A teacher can have a major influence on a child's life. We have a multitude of amazing teachers in this district, but there is always one who has instilled in us an incredible work ethic or has taught us to set high self-standards. This activity worked nicely with the Character Education and Literacy Programs in the middle school.

Mrs. Mulholland and Mrs. Klein asked the children to think of an elementary school teacher who had made a difference in their early school lives. In the two day activity, we had the children read a letter of praise to recognize and understand what praise looks like in writing. To help the children organize their thoughts on paper, we had them complete a questionnaire on that teacher. The questions were then arranged into paragraphs to create that letter. We took the old fashion route and had them handwrite a letter to their elementary teacher.
