The Bethpage High School Art Club members joined The Memory Project's, Portraits of Kindness mission to make art for children in Puerto Rico who were recently affected by Hurricane Maria. The Art students who made portraits included Ashley Ro, Michelle Zheng, Camila DaSilva, Marlyn Ortiz, Saray Ortiz, Amari Harper, Francesca Vangi, and Alyssa Dacosta. The portraits were delivered to the children on Friday, May 18, 2018. The Art Club members enjoyed creating art that would put a smile on a young child's face, especially those who lost all of their personal belongings and are still going through hard times in Puerto Rico. Members were looking forward to using their artistic talents to provide happiness and to share their love of art with others.

The Memory Project is a non-profit organization that provides photos of children from all over the world who face substantial challenges in their life such as neglect, abuse, loss, violence, and poverty. The Memory Project have now created more than 100,000 portraits for children in 43 countries.
