The students of Bethpage High School’s two Virtual Enterprise companies experienced real success during the VE Long Island Trade Show at LIU Post on Jan. 9 while also growing as business professionals. They were among more than 100 business simulations that represented students from 90 schools.

Bethpage’s VE companies, STEALTH Fitness and MiSport, set up trade tables and presented their business plans during executive meetings with LIU Post business professors and judges. Both tasks resulted in the students growing their experience in public speaking, communicating, presenting, networking and collaborating.

The two groups collectively earned three gold and one silver award at the trade show following submissions made in December. MiSport members claimed two gold awards for their work on the company’s employee manual and sales materials. STEALTH Fitness earned gold as in the employee manual category as well, and silver for sales materials.

“These events have been great for the students to gain real world experiences,” said Busines Education teacher Nancy Simpson. “The development of the companies has been exciting to see.”
