Regal Eagles Soar at New York City Regional and World Championship Bound

The Bethpage High School Robotics Team, Regal Eagles, FIRST Robotics Competition Team #2869 participated at the New York City Regional on Saturday, April 6, 2019 and Sunday, April 7, 2019.  They were among fifty-four participating teams, some having traveled from as far as China, Turkey, and the United Kingdom to participate in this prestigious regional event.  The Regal Eagles put together a string of strong performances during their qualification matches, to the tune of a 7-3 record.  In the playoffs, the Regal Eagles were seeded in the #2 ranked alliance with the Ossining High School O-Bots (Team #4122) and Bronx High School of Science SciBorgs (Team #1155).  During their best-of-three quarterfinals match-up, the Regal Eagles and their alliance were successful and prevailed, 2 games to 1.  In their best-of-three semifinals match-up, the Regal Eagles and their alliance were again successful winning, 2 games to 0.  In the finals, the Regal Eagles and their alliance fell to the #1 overall alliance, 2 games to 0, however still earned the right to participate at FIRST Robotics Competition World Championships later this month in Detroit, Michigan.  This now marks the third straight year that the Regal Eagles will participate at FIRST World Championships!  

Congratulations to the Regal Eagles and their team advisors, Dr. Kay and Mr. LaSpina on their accomplishments at the New York City Regional and from throughout the school year.
