The Bethpage High School seniors, who attended the Maritime Festival when they were in 3rd Grade, did an outstanding job inviting and educating the 3rd Graders from Central Boulevard Elementary School, Charles Campagne Elementary School, and Kramer Lane Elementary School. They enjoyed taking on the role of educators in the six stations.  Participants had a great educational experience and a bunch of laughs!

Special thanks to Mr. Hack for doing the scuba, Ms. Papetti for facilitating the plankton station, Mr. Stroh for assisting with the collection of sea water at dawn, Mr. Keelan and Mr. Santiago for their assistance with the setup and breakdown of the event, Mr. Carroll for proving the aquatic holding pens, and Mr. Portuese for his continued assistance in planning the successful event.  We also want to acknowledge M. Flower and Son of Oyster Bay and L and L Bait of Bayshore for the touch tank creatures.

The festival is dedicated in memory of Mr. Frank Portuese, who cherished his time out on the waters and instilled a love and fascination with creatures from our local shores.  There would not be a Maritime Festival without him.
