The CBS students will embark on a “Journey through Books” from February 25-March 22. CBS’s PARP (Parents as Reading Partners) kick-off began with a bag pipe greeting from BHS’s Assistant Principal Kevin Healy. The design of the program is for CBS students and their caregivers to make a commitment, with a reading contract, to log and read at least 15 minutes each night throughout the duration program. The "journey" will include student lead morning announcements with greetings in 24 different languages, a brand new book for each student, a “Books on the Move” grocery bag decorating contest, Hat’s Off to Reading Day, Travel Tee Shirt Day, Guest Community Reader Day, Poem in Your Pocket day, incentives to visit the Bethpage Public Library and prizes for minutes read as well as Mr. Furrey’s school-wide Principal’s Challenge of 250,000 minutes read.
