Energy as a Critical Issue

Mr. Kiernan Moran of Johnson Controls recently gave a presentation to 21st Century Scholars on the current global energy situation. Mr. Moran discussed current market conditions and reasons for energy needs and went on to discuss the future of green jobs and President-elect Obama's Energy Plan. He also used the story of the Little Red Hen as an allegory for the global siutation. Mr. Moran discussed the current electrical grid, the need for alternaitve, renewable and sustainable forms of energy and outlined the perils of our nation's addiication to oil and fossil fuel. He also discussed plans to make Bethpage Schools a bit more greener and showed off a photovoltaic panel similar to ones that will be installed on the roof of BHS. It was a great discussion and the students asked great questions.
