Lucy’s Legacy: Treasures of Ethiopia

Some adventurous students expanded their horizons while visiting an Ethiopian restaurant as part of a 21st Century trip to see “Lucy’s Legacy: Treasures of Ethiopia” at the Times Square Discovery Center. Ethiopian food is eaten without utensils and, by tradition, you feed one another by scooping up food from the platter with injera, a sourdough flatbread. After dinner, the students explored the exhibit which showcased Ethiopia's rich cultural heritage and introduced them to the incredible five million-year history of this fascinating country, known as the Cradle of Mankind. There were more than 100 artifacts in the exhibit, including fossils, historical manuscripts, paintings, coins, musical instruments, implements of daily use, religious artifact, as well as the bones of “Lucy” the oldest complete hominid.
