The Bethpage High School Philosophy Club recently partnered with J.F.K. Middle School for a 21st Century philosophical discussion project. Four members of the club, including Bert Geng (named Most Philosophical Student in America for 2009) led a discussion with students from the middle school on the topic, “Is it wrong to be different? Why does society embrace conformity?” The discussion lasted about 2 hours and the middle school students really got into the topic and how it affected both themselves and society. The Philosophy Club is looking forward to hosting more discussions at the Middle School in the future and would like to thank Mr. Fullerton for helping arrange this discussion!
