Choices and Consequences Program

As part of the high school's school-wide safety initiative, on Wednesday, February 11th all 11th grade students took part in the Choices and Consequences Program which was presented by the Nassau County District Attorney's Office. The program, which lasted 3 periods, addressed drunk, drugged and reckless driving and the consequences of such actions. Assistant District Attorney, Maureen McCormick spoke about recent incidents of car crashes that have resulted in tragedies for many families. Lieutenant Kalin, from the Nassau County Police Department, explained to students the procedures taken by police when dealing with drunk drivers. In addition, as part of the program several individuals, who had recently been arrested for DWI, described to the class their experience with the police, the legal system, and the Nassau County jail. Overall, the program delivered a powerful message to our students to be safe and responsible when getting behind the wheel of a car. The program is returning in June to be presented to our seniors.
