2007 Homecoming Game and Parade

BETHPAGE , NY - The Bethpage School District community celebrated Homecoming 2007 with a parade down Stewart Avenue and yet another triumph by the Golden Eagles Varsity Football team. The team prevailed over Lynbrook by a score of 28-7, enabling the team to maintain their hold on first place in Conference III with a 5-0 record.

The Golden Eagles were led by the rushing of Derek Buondelmonte (96 yards, 1 touchdown), Kevin Glueckert (67 yards), Joe Loria (2 touchdowns), Shane McGuigan (1 touchdown) and Quarterback Greg Miller (2-point conversion). Kevin also finished with two receptions for 61 yards and combined with Phil Luongo for 23 tackles on defense. Bethpage never trailed in the game, but only led 14-7 at halftime before scoring touchdowns in the third and fourth quarters to put the game away. The Eagle defense shut out Lynbrook in the second half.

Prior to the game, the annual Homecoming Parade was held, beginning at the King Kullen Shopping Center and culminating at Bethpage High School . Students marched down Stewart Avenue carrying banners they created to describe each class' theme, from the Class of 2008's “Safari Seniors” to the Class of 2011's “Fly Freshmen.” There were also the “Celebrity Sophomores” and the “Junior Jets,” equipped with their own Jets mobile.

The Bethpage High School , Band, Kickline, and Cheerleaders also participated in the celebration, performing for the community at halftime. PTA organizations sold spirited Bethpage school items to raise funds. Clare Murphy sang the Star Spangled Banner . The Homecoming advisor was teacher Wendy Way .
