Philosophy Club meets Author Marietta McCarty

Members of the Bethpage High School Philosophy Club visited the School of Practical Philosophy in Manhattan to attend a lecture by professor and author Marietta McCarty. Professor McCarty was there to promote and discuss her most recent book, How Philosophy Can Save Your Life. Ms. McCarty presented a talk on the ten ideas that matter most in life and encouraged the development of philosophy clubs within communities as a way to find “a way to slow down and join others in figuring out what constitutes a fulfilling, joyful life.” After the lecture Ms. McCarty signed copies of her book and the students each had a chance to speak to her one on one regarding their thoughts about her lecture and their experiences in their high school philosophy class and club.
