Opening Day of the Bethpage Athletic Complex

On September 12, 2009, Bethpage High School's new Athletic Complex opened with a terrific ceremony that was festive and thankful to all the people responsible for making this dream become a reality. Athletic Director John Franchi served as our master of ceremony as we thanked Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor John Venditto and the Town Board for sponsoring this project. Nassau County Legislator and Bethpage High School Alumnus Ed Mangano was on hand. Legislator Mangano was instrumental in facilitating this project for Bethpage. We also thanked Dr. Richard Marsh, former Superintendent of Schools, and the Board of Education for being so supportive. Finally, we thanked Laser Industries for their attention to detail and willingness to do whatever it takes to meet the tight deadlines they were given. Appreciation was expressed to State Senator Kemp Hannon and Assemblyman Rob Walker for attending the ceremony.

Superintendent of Schools Terrence Clark thanked everyone for their work on this massive project. Combined with the new Ice Skating Rink and Borella Field, Bethpage is now the envy of many communities for its recreational facilities. Thanks to the custodial staff for doing such a good job on this important day. Thanks to the Dad's Club for always being there for our students and thanks to the Bethpage PAL which helped with many of the arrangements.

Coach Howie Vogts said he never thought he would see the day where Bethpage would have such magnificent facilities and he said it would be used by boys and girls for many, many years to come!

Specail thanks to Brittany Berke for her beautiful rendition of the National Anthem and for being the first performer at the new Athletic Complex!

Thanks to everyone it was a great day for Bethpage!
