Recipe for “Le Fun”
Take a bit of French Canadian culture, combine with a generous helping of French Canadian cuisine, and finally, mix well with an ample dose of extreme winter sports and you have a great recipe for what the French Canadians call “Le Fun”!
From February 28 th to March 2 nd , Bethpage French students had an unforgettable experience when they traveled to Québec City . Their action packed vacation started with toboggan rides on the Dufferin Terrace. Friday's activities included a visit to the Basilica of Saint Anne de Beau Pré and the Mont Morency Falls . Everyone enjoyed the highlight of the day, snow tubing, at the Winter Sports Village . The Cabane à Sucre (Sugar Shack), our restaurant for the night, was a delightful experience. After a hearty meal, students danced, played the spoons with the local band, and enjoyed the ambiance of the French Canadian hospitality. On Saturday morning, students visited the Citadel, the Musée de la Civilization, and La Place Royale. Saturday afternoon, with fresh snow falling, students trekked through the woods on snow shoes and then tried dog sledding. “Allez!” Even the dogs speak French in Québec. After saying good bye to the dogs and their new puppies, students were enthralled with their visit to the Ice Hotel.
On Sunday it was difficult to say “Au Revoir” to Québec, “La Belle Provence ”. Students came home with many fond memories to share with their classmates. French classes are already planning next year's trip to Montréal.
