The Pre-Challenge Day Challenge: Staff Sumo Wrestling

Bethpage High School held its first-ever Sumo Wrestling Faculty Tournament as a fundraiser for Challenge Day. Students gathered in the gymnasium to watch over 15 staff members face off in one-on-one challenges wearing Sumo suits. Over $600 was raised as a result of the enthusiastic participation of District faculty, community members, and students.

The event, sponsored by the High School’s Challenge Day Committee, also involved performance of the National Anthem by Brittany Berke, Cheerleading and Golden Girls Kickline Team routines, a PTA Grudgematch, and more. Colin Chadderton and Nick LoBosco served as the MCs, and Chris DeMairo volunteered as referee. Special thanks goes to Pappardelle’s Pizza, Sal’s Place Restaurant, the BHS Athletic Department, the Bethpage PTA, and Long Island Athletics for their generous contributions to the activity.
