Varsity Night/Read to Achieve
The Bethpage Girls' and Boys' Basketball teams both had victories in their Varsity Night games. The Girls defeated West Hempstead and the Boys defeated Roslyn. Both were great games. The Bethpage High School teams were cheered on by their newest fans- third graders from Charles Campagne, Kramer Lane and Central Blvd. Elementary Schools. This was part of the Read to Achieve program. Varsity players have visited all the third grade classrooms to read to the students and the students have reported back to the high school students on their progress. During the halftime, Mr. Franchi, our Athletic Director, ran a halftime show that had a shooting contest for the third graders who received prizes from the school and from Cablevision's Power to Learn which has been our partner on this great program. The game was broadcast on our radio station and is available for listening at www.bethpageradio.com. John Pizzuti and Scott Szczesny did a great job calling the game.
Thanks to the High School teams for all their time helping the readers!
Thanks to the third graders for cheering us on!
