Helping Animals

Mrs. Yansick's class has been working to support both the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter and the Lasthope, Inc. Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation Center in Syosset. These two shelters are dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of stray, abandoned and death-due pound animals. They operate based only on the generosity of individuals and groups.

The students collected donation items from the entire school family, including students, teachers, custodians, secretaries, aides, monitors, and Mrs. Cintado herself!  They gathered blankets, pet treats, pet food, pet toys, brushes, nail clippers, and even peanut butter!  Over 11 boxes of supplies were collected.  The donated items will be taken to the shelters by Ms. Gerace, who is the mother of Nick Biasi in Mrs. Yansick's class.  Ms. Gerace also came in to share information about the shelters and show pictures of the animals the students are helping.  The students would like to thank everyone for their generosity!
