Bethpage High School SADD Members Visit Younger Peers

Bethpage High School 's Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) group, under the leadership of advisor Ms. Christine Kennedy, have been visiting the District's elementary schools to inspire and set positive examples for younger peers.

During a recent trip to Central Boulevard Elementary School , the SADD participants spent some time with Ms. Pace's and Ms. Tierney's third graders. Central Boulevard Elementary School Social Worker Ms. Sarah Glassman also coordinated the event.

The high school students introduced themselves and greeted the class, then formed into groups with the third grade children. Each group took part in various activities to help them get to know one another. They filled out worksheets and answered questions about their favorites (colors, games, etc.), families, interests and hobbies, and other topics. They learned that regardless of age, many of the students in the room had similar interests and are active in the same types of sports and activities.

As one of the activity's highlights, each child received a book titled, Getting Along with Friends. It was an excellent way to tie reading into the program's theme!
