Good Sportsmanship Shines in Bethpage Elementary Schools

Central Boulevard Elementary School in Bethpage held its annual Physical Education Demonstration, an opportunity for fifth graders to exhibit positive sportsmanship and cooperation behaviors while enjoying sports activities. Students and staff members cheered on the participants during an afternoon event, while parents and other family members were invited to watch an evening session of games.

Physical Education teachers Mrs. Nicole Agovino, Mr. Patrick Braglia, and Ms. Kristen Bremner coordinated the events, providing each class with an opportunity to play a selected sport in the center of the gymnasium.  Mrs. Cohen’s class played Catch Your Tail, Mrs. Holt’s students competed in Scooter Ball and Human Foosball, Ms. Deasy’s class took on the challenge of Pillo Polo, and all fifth graders were encouraged to partake in Apache Relays. The demonstration also included a fitness test component.

“The Physical Education program not only works to develop the basic skill abilities of each student, it also focuses on developing personal fitness and maintaining a healthy lifestyle,” Principal Mr. Steve Furrey stated in a message to parents. “We recognize all the children for their efforts and willingness to showcase their talents.”

Charles Campagne and Kramer Lane Elementary Schools recently held similar Physical Education Demonstrations, as well. Great job to all of the District’s young athletes!
