Election 2008

JFK Middle School just held a series of debates among students representing the two presidential candidates- Senator John McCain and Senater Barack Obama. After watching a video about the election season that was created by students, questions were asked by a panel of students. The representatives for both Senator McCain and Senator Obama did an outstanding job. Senator Joseph Biden and Governor Sarah Palin also had representatives that answered questions. Topics ranged from health care to economy to education policy. The JFK students were knowledgeable and completely familiar with their positions. Artwork and posters supporting the candidates filled the entire auditorium. The audience was attentive throughout the assembly and filled out a quesitonairre on the candidate responses.

Thanks to Mr. Kevin Fullerton, Director of Social Studies and Libraries, who organized and helped to prepare the students along with the entire JFK Social Studies Department- Mr. Brace, Mr. Fisher, Ms. Mastellone, Ms. Smith, Ms. Moquin, Ms. Klein and Mr. Maerz. Thanks also to Ms. McCarthy and Mr. Tocco for arranging the event. Thansk to the entire JFK faculty for getting into the spirit of the event!

It was a terrific event that reminded everyone of their civic responsibility to vote!
