Environmental Lessons Create Positive Energy at Kramer Lane
Kevin Strebel of the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) visited Kramer Lane Elementary School to present “In Concert with the Environment,” a two-day program focusing on renewable energy sources and energy-saving habits.
The workshop was presented to fifth graders, strengthening their awareness of clean energy and the amount of energy used by various appliances such as washing machines, computers, and dishwashers, that are used each day. Recycling was also reinforced, and environmentally friendly alternatives to materials like plastic were discussed.
The program was just one of the many ways that Kramer Lane has been encouraging recycling and environmental awareness. Fourth graders have also helped to make a difference, participating in an “up-cycling” project through Terracycle in order to make “green” products out of recycled items.
