Mad About Science
Bethpage Students Learn from After School Science Club

Students at the Bethpage School District’s Kramer Lane Elementary School have been enjoying an After School Science Club that runs for the course of five weeks. Science educators Sharon Kennelty-Cohen and Pat Cohen of Mad Science of Long Island lead students in fun, interactive learning experiences that encompass various aspects of the District’s Science curriculum.

The program, which is PTA-sponsored, provides students with age-appropriate experiments and group activities that help them to better understand how Science works. During a recent session, Kennelty-Cohen informed students about polymers and compounds through the use of paperclips, magnets, and other items. The children worked together in groups to build models and discuss their findings.
