TEACHING
IN A LIBRARY
Library
teaching is a little different from classroom teaching. Kids are spread
out, working on different projects, using different resources, accountable
for different results. So what makes it all work? The nature of the
assignment is critical. It must be:
- do-able
-- libraries have information,
- students
do something with the information, not just copy it, and
- students
do better the next time because realistic self-evaluation is built
in.
To make
it work, the teacher, library media specialist, and student must plan,
explore resources and develop skills cooperatively.
