5th Annual Teen Poetry Contest
April is National Poetry Month and to celebrate, the BHS and JFK Library/Media Centers once again teamed up with the Bethpage Public Library to host an annual Poetry Contest open to all students in grades 6-12. Students submitted their poems to be judged by a panel of librarians. Winners were selected for grades 6-8 and 9-12, respectively. An evening Poetry Reading and Awards Ceremony was held on May 12 at the Bethpage Public Library. Students invited friends and family to hear their poems read and to accept their award certificates and prizes. Refreshments were donated by Starbucks and King Kullen of Bethpage. A booklet of all of the winning poems was created and is included in all three of the libraries collections.

JFK M.S. winners:
1st Place – Anthony Saya
2nd Place – Alexandria White
3rd Place – Brittany Bungert
First Honors – Thomas Fitzpatrick
Second Honors – Andrea O’Donnell
