Bethpage Read to Achieve Program

Bethpage Schools, in conjunction with the New York Knicks, Cablevision and Power to Learn, kicked off the Fourth Annual Read to Achieve program . Third graders from all three elementary schools came up to Bethpage High School for a day of fun and to meet their new reading mentors- the BHS Athletic Captains. Students learned how important reading is to a good education. High School students talked about their favorite books and their love of reading. The High School students are known as scholar-athletes because they are both excellent athletes and excellent students. They will now visit the third grade classrooms to make sure that everyone is keeping up with their reading!

Outside the New York Knicks arranged for the NBA Groove Truck which allowed students to shoot at some special baskets.

It was a great day and the students left with a gift- pencils and backpacks that say Bethpage Schools Read to Achieve and NY Ranger magnets. The High School will now visit the third grade classrooms to make sure that everyone is keeping up with their reading!

Thanks to all the students, teachers, administrators, clerical staff, the New York Knicks
