Important Information for Community on MRSA Important Notice Regarding Personnel Issue at JFk |
The mission of providing students with rich, comprehensive learning opportunities is alive and well in Bethpage ! The High School's Class of 2007 just graduated with 97% of the students receiving Regents Diplomas, the highest number in our School District 's history. And, last May, our community made a commitment to the future success of educating children in Bethpage by overwhelmingly approving the implementation of Full-Day Kindergarten planned for September, 2008. Since becoming Superintendent in July, 2004, one of the cornerstones of my administration has been the improvement of communication between school and home. Teachers, support staff, administrators, and parents are partners in educating their children and need to work together to maximize learning. To this end, we are introducing still another means of communication between school and home this year. Very soon, for only the most important of messages, we will be using a system known as “Connect-ED.” This electronic arrangement will allow me, or my designee, to send a telephone message to each student's home within a matter of minutes. For example, on a day when school may be closed due to snow, in addition to being able to access information from our award-winning District Website, television's News 12 or various radio stations, you will receive a recorded telephone message to inform you of the school closing. This technology has been successfully tested and used in other school districts across the country, and it will greatly improve our ability to communicate important messages that are time sensitive. As we progress through the year, please continue to visit our outstanding School Website to learn more about the very latest school news, and tune into the Bethpage Internet Radio website at bethpageradio.com to hear play-by-play action of sports teams, school concerts, and other special events. Thank you for your continued interest and support. Dr. Richard S. Marsh Superintendent of Schools
