Superintendent's Roundtable

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Richard Marsh recently conducted a Roundtable Discussion with 10 students from grades 8-12 representing JFK Middle School and Bethpage High School . The purpose of the discussion was to learn what the students liked most about their school experiences in Bethpage , and also find out if they had suggestions for adding other programs and activities. It was a very fruitful discussion in which students applauded the recent expansion of Advanced Placement Courses, Biotechnology, and Senior Seminar. Among their recommendations were to consider adding foreign language courses in Chinese and/or Japanese, and introduce these studies in elementary school when it is easier to acquire these language skills. They also suggested introducing a “Junior Seminar” elective so that they could prepare even earlier for the college application process.
