Golden Eagles are "All In"

The Golden Eagles welcomed the New York Giants' motivational speaker, Gian Paul Gonzalez to Bethpage High School on Wednesday, September 20, 2017. Mr. Gonzalez spent the day in Bethpage to talk to the students and athletes about commitment, leadership, and remembering to thank the people who helped them along the way. He spoke to the students just like he did for the New York Giants and explained the importance of not only being "all in" but staying "all in" for everything you do in life - on and off the field or court. Commitment is key for success.

To demonstrate the importance of connection, Mr. Gonzalez had high school student athletes come up to the stage and hold hands. This created a connection needed to complete a circuit that lit a small light. When any of the people in the circle let go of the hand they were holding, the light went off. In sports, Gonzalez said, "It's not about the wins and losses, it's about the relationship."

After telling an inspirational story about gratitude in the military, Gian Paul Gonzalez asked the students to think about the people in their lives that helped them to get to where they are now and let the students know that those are the people that packed their parachutes. He stressed that it was so important to thank these people while you have the chance. Gonzalez then invited the student athletes to cut pieces of the parachute so they could give them to the people in their life that made an impact.

The students loved this experience with Gian Paul Gonzalez. It was great to listen and learn from such an inspirational and motivational speaker. The Bethpage Golden Eagles are "ALL IN!"
