Bethpage Educational Foundation Donates $2,000 for HS Challenge Day

The Bethpage Educational Foundation recently presented the Bethpage School District with a donation of $2,000 to help fund Challenge Day later this school year. This generous contribution was made possible through successful fundraising efforts including the Bethpage Day 5K Run/Tara Costa Health Fair held in October. The Run was organized by Race Director Victor Macaluso. Bethpage Educational Foundation President Rich Festante and Board member Tom Frost visited Bethpage High School in December to personally deliver a check to District administrators and the building's Challenge Day coordinators, Ms. Christine Kennedy and Mr. Jay Benjamin. They were joined by three students- James Murphy, Amanda Baines and Colin Chadderton- who talked to the Board of Education at a recent meeting about the impact of Challenge Day.

This will be the second year that Bethpage High School is offering Challenge Day as a way to connect students and promote positive behaviors. The program is facilitated by the non-profit Challenge Day organization, which provides youth with workshops focusing on a celebration of diversity, truth, and full expression. The event will once again be held at the Town of Oyster Bay Ice Skating Center in Bethpage Community Park.
