Our Argonauts got down in the sand and got their feet wet while exploring Caumsett State park on Monday, May 11th. Students found slipper shells, whelk shells and seed casings, as well as muscles attached to rocks and shells via byssus threads. During our walk along the sandy beach, they viewed erosion in the cliffs and the effects of glaciers on the north shore on Long Island. They even used magnets in the sand to remove the mineral magnetite. It was a fabulous, hands-on field experience had by all Argonauts.
