Bethpage School District Hosts Technology Meeting
Several Nassau County school districts recently asked Bethpage Schools to set up a visitation so they could view some of the technology innovations happening at Bethpage. On October 27, representatives from Bellmore-Merrick, Freeport, Manhasset, Nassau BOCES, and Plainview-Old Bethpage, visited Bethpage High School. They were treated to a demonstration of the school's Cisco Academy class (the first in Nassau County). Mr. Leon LaSpina and his students answered questions about curriculum, online learning, and future ambitions.
The second part of the event focused on the school embracing thin-client technology. Bethpage is among the first schools in the metropolitan area to utilize this cutting-edge technology. Working with Classlink Technologies, Bethpage has set up a new lab. The benefits are many - lower Total Cost of Ownership, easier upgrades and maintenance, and the ability to recycle older equipment. Most importantly, the Classlink technology allows students access to the applications and files from home. This innovation can enable anytime, anywhere learning.
The Bethpage Union Free School District is indebted to Cablevision Systems for their assistance in setting up this new computer lab.
