1. Visit Sagamore Hill, the summer White House of President Theodore Roosevelt. Run by the National Park Service, Sagamore Hill fully conveys the essence of Roosevelt, his passion for the outdoors and his emphasis on family. |

Visit Old Bethpage Restoration Village
an 18th Century living history museum that shows Long Island's rural beginnings.
The Restoration Village is located right next to Bethpage State Park where
the U.S. Open will be held.

3. Visit a Gold Coast mansion. Long Island still has many of these beautiful estates from the era of the Great Gatsby. Several are close to the site of the Open, including the Vanderbilt Museum, Coe Hall in the Planting Fields and Old Westbury Gardens. |

4.
Visit a winery. Long Island's climate is perfect for producing fine wine
and many wineries reside on the East End of Long Island. Several have
won major competitions. Check out Long

5. Visit an aquarium. Relatively new to Long Island, the Atlantis Marine World in Riverhead is a magnificent place to explore the sea and the Long Island aquatic culture. |

Visit the Cradle of Aviation
Museum to see how the pioneers of early aviation used Long Island
as a training ground, including Charles Lindbergh who flew from Long Island's
Roosevelt Field to Paris in 1927! The Museum will be opening in the fall
of 2001.

Visit the New York State Park at
Jones Beach, the world's largest public beach and one of the most
beautiful. Breathtaking!
