Bethpage High School's Students Putting An End to Cancer (SPEC) Club along with its advisor, Mr. Christopher DeStefano, made their annual trip to The American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge in New York City. This program provides a free home away from home for cancer patients and their caregivers. More than just a roof over their heads, it’s a nurturing community that helps patients access the care they need while being treated for many forms of this disease.
The SPEC students brought food, treats, and cards to lift spirits and try and ease the pain for people and families here. They spent time speaking with patients and their families. It was a wonderful day and while we hope this will not be necessary in the near future and find a cure, SPEC will be involved as always to assist.
SPEC would also like to thank our two additional chaperones, Ms. Calio and Ms. Salcedo for their hard work and involvement.
