On May 27, six members of Bethpage High School’s award-winning robotics team, the Regal Eagles, visited Charles Campagne Elementary School to lead a series of engaging STEM workshops for fifth grade students. The initiative, designed to introduce younger students to the world of engineering, is set to continue with upcoming sessions at Kramer Lane Elementary and Central Boulevard Elementary.

The high schoolers began each session by giving an overview of various engineering disciplines, sparking curiosity about the many career paths available in the field. The highlight of the visit was a hands-on activity in which students worked alongside the Regal Eagles to assemble remote-controlled LEGO robots. Guided by their high school mentors, the fifth graders experienced the excitement of building and testing their own mini machines.

Each session concluded with a conversation about the many STEM opportunities that await the students in middle and high school, including participation in the JFK Middle School robotics team and the esteemed Regal Eagles program at Bethpage High School.

This outreach effort offered a unique opportunity for high school students to share their passion for robotics while mentoring the next generation of engineers. By encouraging younger students to explore STEM early on, the Regal Eagles are helping to build a strong foundation for innovation and teamwork in Bethpage’s schools.
