students on field

On Sunday June 8, members of the Student Civic Club at Bethpage High School joined community members, families and supporters for Sunrise WALKS Long Island, held at the Sunrise Day Camp-Long Island campgrounds in Wheatley Heights. Led by club advisor Mr. Robert Fisher, the students spent the morning volunteering and taking part in a heartwarming event dedicated to supporting children with cancer and their siblings.

Sunrise WALKS is more than just a charity walk - it’s a vibrant celebration filled with music, games, prizes and joy, all in support of Sunrise Day Camp. The camp provides a free, fun-filled summer experience for children battling cancer and their siblings, offering them a chance to create lasting memories away from the challenges of medical treatments.

By participating in this special event, the Civic Club members played an important role in helping to raise funds and awareness, ensuring that more children can enjoy a summer of laughter, friendship and healing.
